Voice box upgrade in progress. We're fitting our protocol droid with a brand new voice box, and properly recorded Huttese is arriving in the next few days. Until then it's doing its best with the old one, so trust the spelling over the sound.
Field guide
How to sound like you belong in Mos Espa, and what you should know about the people who run it.
Sounding Hutt
- LowSpeak from the back of your throat. Huttese should rumble, not chirp.
- SlowTake your time. A Hutt never hurries, and neither should you.
- "oo"Stretch the long vowels: CHOOO-tah, POOO-doo.
- "ch"Say it like the "ch" in church, with a bit of extra spit.
- StressA good rule of thumb is to lean on the second-to-last syllable: ko-ON-a, pa-TEE-sa.
Hutt money
Out here, Republic credits are often refused. Traders want Hutt coin, so know your wupiupi from your truguts before you haggle.
Who are the Hutts?
Crime lords. Hutts are enormous, slug-like beings who run smuggling, gambling and protection rackets across the Outer Rim.
Everyone speaks it. Huttese spread through trade, so you'll hear it from smugglers, bounty hunters, podracers and junk dealers who have never met a Hutt.
Home turf. The Hutt homeworld is Nal Hutta, and desert worlds like Tatooine have lived under Hutt rule for generations.
Real-world roots. Sound designer Ben Burtt built Huttese from the sound and rhythm of Quechua, a language spoken in the Andes of South America.
Boonta Eve. A Hutt holiday, best known for the podrace held on Tatooine that draws crowds from across the sector.

Play out a real conversation. Each line arrives in the chat and you pick the right Huttese reply. Every line is spelled the way it sounds, with the written Huttese underneath. Switch on Show meanings if you need the English.
These are practice conversations built from the phrases on this page, not lines from the films. A couple of replies, like Pota pachee (podracer parts), join two glossary words together.
Biddy Blas corner
The loudest mouth in podracing. Biddy Blas is the bragging Crocin racer from Star Wars: Galactic Racer who blew up across X, TikTok and Instagram within days of the game's release.
"Write it down!" Biddy says it right after introducing himself to you, the amateur, so you never forget the name. He then suggests tattooing his name on your arm, because one day it'll be worth millions.
Use it when your mate says something worth remembering, or you've just done something legendary.
A crowing taunt with no official translation. It's pure attitude, and fans use it as a doorbell-style "guess who's here".
Use it when you turn up somewhere uninvited and fully confident.
A Biddy-flavoured "mind your business" that spread through the memes. Use it with full Biddy energy.
Some outlets describe Biddy's lines as Huttese, others as his own alien tongue. "Write it down" comes from his line in the game, but none of these have been officially translated word for word.
