I'm 25, and I've been a Star Wars fan for as long as I can remember. Somewhere between rewatching the cantina scene for the hundredth time and quoting Jabba at family barbecues, I decided I didn't just want to recognise Huttese. I wanted to actually speak it.
The problem is there's no Duolingo for the Outer Rim. The words are scattered across fan wikis, old forum posts and frame-by-frame subtitle hunts. So my cousin and I started learning it together: quizzing each other, arguing over pronunciation, and greeting each other with "H'chu apenkee" whether anyone else gets the joke or not.
Protocol is what came out of that. It's the site we wished existed when we started: short lessons, flashcards you can flip on your phone, and a quiz to settle who's really been practising. Huttese is first, and more languages are on the way.
If you're learning too, welcome to the cantina. Koona t'chuta?
